Pacific Crest Properties Company Party
Last night was our annual Pacific Crest Properties company holiday party. We went to Dragonfly in Downtown Truckee and it was amazing as always!
For anyone out there who has not yet been to Dragonfly, this is one place in town that just can’t be beat. There are amazing lunches, including a selection of noodle bowls which are my personal favorite (although I heard the Fish and Chips are right up there). I can never pass up the basa when I have dinner, and lucky for me, that was an option on the party menu. It is a fabulous piece of fish, with rice, curry, green beans and a plantain chip…yummo!!
The company party is always my favorite and always reminds me how truly lucky I am to live and work in a place that is so special. Our 16 agents and their families are really amazing people and on both a professional and personal level, they are just an all around great bunch.
I will say that our gift exchange can get a bit competitive and tense at times (especially when my friend and our office manager Leah stole the Dutch Oven I had my hands on), but we have a good time and share a lot of laughs. I ended up walking away with some movie tickets and a serving platter which is great and gives me an excuse for a night out with my husband Erik.
Lots of laughs, good people and time to reflect on another year at Pacific Crest Properties. A place that I call home, where friends and family alike reside. I feel truly blessed this holiday season!
Truckee has a new coffee shop
The name is Elijah Bleu’s (named after owner’s Dawn and John Evan’s son) and the food and coffee are fantastic. Located next to For Goodness Sake at 10115 Donner Pass Road in Downtown Truckee, it’s a great place to grab a cup of Joe (Bluebottle Coffee is the brand) and some tasty treats featuring an organic menu inspired by the South. So far I have experienced and incredible tuna sandwich, turkey/swiss melt, and best of all a hearty and flavorful breakfast cereal with quinoa, spelt, barley, dried fruit and walnuts…yummo! The coffee is great and there is a kids menu to boot which includes my son Colby’s favorite, a Nutella and banana sandwich.
With cold days ahead and hungry bellies after long days on the slope, this is a good place to swing by and grab something for the road or kick up your feet and enjoy the laid back ambiance with pig picures (yes, as I said before it’s inspired by the South), warm paint and cozy window seats packed with pillows.
There are a few things I really like about this place…
1. It is being managed by my good friend, the highly talented Kimmie Bullock.
2. The food is HEALTHY and organic.
3. The owner Dawn loves my 5 month old baby Bennett and has a new habit of holding him when I arrive, giving me a moment to unwind and ENJOY!
4. Located next to my favorite local community assett, For Goodness Sake.
THE SNOW IS HERE!!
Well, looks like today is the day…December 6th, 2009 has brought Truckee’s first “real” storm of the season. The hopeful locals and optimistic vacationers have been waiting for this day for a while now and the way it looks outside with big fluffy flakes, it could very well be worth the wait. Now I will say that I am home spending my first winter out of Tahoe Donner in Glenshire, also known as the Banana Belt, so things are much more mild and what was once feet in higher elevations is now inches in my neighborhood.
My husband is working up at Donner Summit (for Truckee Fire Department) and says it is nothing less than crazy out there with accidents in every direction and I-80 closed both East and West bound. I am happy to hunker down by the fire with my babies and watch the beauty through the glass. Staying off the road is our best bet today and with nothing to do and nowhere to go (other than our friends Cookie Exchange Party that we have to miss) it is good to be safe and warm inside. I guess the fact that I ruined the oatmeal, cranberry, chocolate chip cookies was just natures way of keeping us off the road:0)
With over 20,000 pass holders at Squaw Valley this year and thousands at the numerous surrounding resorts, this could be an epic year for skiers and winter enthusiasts alike. The timing couldn’t be more perfect with the holidays around the corner and many reasons to come to Truckee including great shopping in Old Downtown Truckee, tasty restaurants, comfortable coffee shops and activities that are endless including sledding, ice skating, skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and of course, good old shoveling!!!
