Armstrong and Blitz Tracts

These neighborhoods are located on the north side of Donner Pass Road across from the outlet stores at the west end of town. Substantially built out, there are still a few undeveloped parcels. The topography is generally up-sloping. Some parcels have views of the Pacific Crest and Donner Lake, but most properties are in a wooded environment.

Ponderosa Ranchos / Martiswoods Estates

Zoned for horses, this is an area of primary residences. The homes are generally larger semi-custom and custom designs. Many of the properties lie adjacent to National Forest lands, providing access to miles of cross country skiing, mountain biking and hiking trails. There are no condominiums here and no structured amenities.

Pinyon Creek

A 40 unit townhouse development on 9.1 acres southeast of highway 267 in the Martis Valley area of Truckee. Close to Truckee Airport and Northstar-at-Tahoe. Townhomes start at $425,000.

Ponderosa Fairway

Just minutes from downtown, on Highway 267, this is a charming quiet community built with a beautifully maintained 9-hole golf course as it’s central focus. Some homes are along the golf course; others are in nicely wooded surroundings. Regional Park is close by, providing tennis courts, picnic facilities, ball fields and an outdoor amphitheatre.

THE SNOW IS HERE!!

Well, looks like today is the day…December 6th, 2009 has brought Truckee’s first “real” storm of the season.  The hopeful locals and optimistic vacationers have been waiting for this day for a while now and the way it looks outside with big fluffy flakes, it could very well be worth the wait. Now I will say that I am home spending my first winter out of Tahoe Donner in Glenshire, also known as the Banana Belt, so things are much more mild and what was once feet in higher elevations is now inches in my neighborhood.

My husband is working up at Donner Summit (for Truckee Fire Department) and says it is nothing less than crazy out there with accidents in every direction and I-80 closed both East and West bound.  I am happy to hunker down by the fire with my babies and watch the beauty through the glass.  Staying off the road is our best bet today and with nothing to do and nowhere to go (other than our friends Cookie Exchange Party that we have to miss) it is good to be safe and warm inside. I guess the fact that I ruined the oatmeal, cranberry, chocolate chip cookies was just natures way of keeping us off the road:0)

With over 20,000 pass holders at Squaw Valley this year and thousands at the numerous surrounding resorts, this could be an epic year for skiers and winter enthusiasts alike. The timing couldn’t be more perfect with the holidays around the corner and many reasons to come to Truckee including great shopping in Old Downtown Truckee, tasty restaurants, comfortable coffee shops and activities that are endless including sledding, ice skating, skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and of course, good old shoveling!!!
